Regulations for the Annual Competitions
REGULATIONS FOR THE ANNUAL COMPETITIONS
(a) A member may only enter any ELLGA competition from her home club.
(b) Official verification of handicap must be shown when registering for a competition i.e. before play.
(c) Handicap Index Limit of 36 for the Scratch Shield Handicap Index Limit of 40 for the Handicap Shield, Autumn Meeting and Seniors competitions.
(d) Each competitor must have been a subscribing member or life member of the club she represents for at least three months immediately preceding the date of the competition.
(e) Shield Competitions - No family members or men are allowed to caddy for players in ELLGA competitions. Caddies are not allowed on the Greens.
(f) In the event of a tie, team winners of the Shields/Trophies shall be decided on the aggregate of the last 9, 6, 3 or 1 hole(s) of each of the team scores.
In the event of a tie for individual prizes or trophies the winners shall be decided on the last 9, 6, 3 or 1 hole(s).
The above rule shall apply in all competitions.
CENTENARY
1 Format to be decided.
SCRATCH
1 A trophy to be called “THE EAST LANCASHIRE LADIES’ GOLF ASSOCIATION SHIELD”, shall be competed for by teams of four.
2 The competition shall be played for on the first Tuesday in June when possible.
3 The Club returning the best aggregate of 4 gross scores for 18 holes shall hold the shield for one year, the four members of the winning team each receive a memento.
4 For Scratch and Worsley Trophy competitions clubs must enter lowest available handicap players. Players may only represent their Home Club in this competition.
5 A trophy, to be called “THE WORSLEY TROPHY”, presented by Mrs Tom Worsley, shall be won by the team returning the four lowest scores under handicap. The team which wins the Scratch Shield shall not be eligible to win the Worsley Trophy. The four members of the winning team each receive a memento.
6 A prize shall be awarded to the player who returns the best scratch score of the competition and the Club which she represents shall hold for one year a trophy to be called the “THE SCRATCH SHIELD”.
7 The Executive Committee shall, for the purpose of the competition, revise and approve the local rules of any course over which the competition may be played.
8 All disputes shall be reported to the Secretary of the Association, who shall lay the same before the members of the Executive Committee who may be present and their decision shall be final.
9 These regulations may be added to or altered at any Annual General Meeting without previous notice having been given.
HANDICAP
A trophy to be called “THE EAST LANCASHIRE LADIES’ HANDICAP TROPHY”, shall be competed for by teams of three. The Trophy shall be played for on the third Tuesday in June when possible. To decide members of their team each affiliated club shall hold a qualifying competition and the three players returning the best nett scores in this qualifying competition shall represent their club in the final stroke play competition for the trophy.
Players may only represent their home club in this competition. The ANNIE CHAMBERS TROPHY shall be awarded to the player who returns the best nett score and shall be held for one year.
Each of the three members of the winning team shall receive a memento.
SENIORS COMPETITION
Played in August as a team of four competition. Age limit 50 years and over. Maximum Handicap Index of 40.
AUTUMN MEETING
Played in September as a team of 4 competition. Maximum Handicap Index of 40.
CAPTAINS AND SECRETARIES LUNCHEON
This is held in November. If the Captain or Secretary is unable to attend two other committee or past committee members may attend in their
place.
ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
This takes place in February each year at the President’s own club. Any resolution for consideration at the AGM should be received by the Secretary no later than 6th February.
